A firm, stable, level foundation is critical. Our typical 6’x3’ tub weighs 4400 pounds when filled and a 7’x 4’ hot tub weighs over 8500 pounds.
- On Ground Installations: Design a base at 1 to 2 feet larger than the edge of the tub to prevent dirt splash and rot from soil acids. Either a level 4" thick reinforced concrete pad or 6” of compacted crushed gravel will support the hot tub. A recessed tub in a deck that has a ground contact foundation should follow these same parameters.

- On Deck or Roof Installations: The deck structure must be able to handle the weight of the filled tub with a safety margin. If the tub is recessed, plan for adequate access to the plumbing and the tub's exterior to service leaks and tighten bands.
