  6. Each Snorkel Hot Tub will be shipped in an average of 4 boxes, the heaviest being the box containing the hot tub wood. The total weight varies depending on what size hot tub you ordered, starting at 400 lbs.  The trucking company that is handling your tub will either deliver your tub to your residence (as long as it is easily accessible by a freight truck) or will have it available for pick-up at their terminal.  There can be an additional charge for a residential delivery and the trucking company does not require their drivers to unload it alone.  You will need to make arrangements to be able to help the driver unload the hot tub boxes, or arrange to pick it up at the trucking terminal, where the cartage company usually helps load your shipment onto a vehicle for you.

GETTING STARTED

  1. A few tips and suggestions to help you prepare for your hot tub installation. More detailed info is in your tub assembly manual, which arrives with your hot tub.
  2.  Outdoor site preparation: One of the most important installation decisions is deciding where to locate your hot tub.  When well placed, a Snorkel tub is more enjoyable and easier to operate.  Factors to consider are esthetic values, exposure, wind, safety, convenience, ability of site to safely handle weight of full hot tub, hose and water locations, electric or gas service availability and privacy.  A Snorkel tub located in close proximity to the bedroom or bathroom is the most convenient.
  3.  In your planning process you must follow all local building codes. Please consider that the site where the hot tub is located might require 220V electricity and, if you are using gas for heat, a natural gas line.  Running the electrical service to the spa pac site must be done by a qualified electrician (preferably a pool & spa technician) and they must be informed of the purpose of the service as it will require a GFCI circuit breaker.  The gas line to the site must be installed and connected by a qualified gas installer.
  4.  Snorkel hot tubs may be supported in a variety of ways. The most important thing to consider is adequate support, a hot tub full of water will weigh from 2,000 to over 10,000 pounds. (see brochure for weight of your tub). Types of supports commonly used include posts, piers, concrete blocks, cement slabs, beams or railroad ties.  Cement slabs provide the most permanent and secure foundation and are recommended where practical.  Check local libraries for patio design books or have your contractor make recommendations.
  5.  Indoor location preparation: Indoor hot tub installations can be beneficial in a greenhouse, however; in homes this may cause damage if the humidity is not adequately vented to the outside.  With any of our products: hot tubs, wood fired heaters, pumps, electrical or gas connections, installations must meet building codes.
